Wednesday, 11 July 2012: The Australian Turf Club has named races after the late Geoff White and Bob Rowland-Smith this Saturday at Warwick Farm in honour of two men who have played influential roles in the Thoroughbred industry.
The eight-race card will also feature the TAB Sportsbet Winter Stakes over 1400m which has attracted a strong field of 12 including Joseph Pride-trained gelding See The World. The son of 1994 Golden Slipper winner; Danzero will be aiming for a hat-trick when he faces the starter on the weekend.
Challenging See the World will be Group 2 winning gelding King Lionheart who will return to racing after a four month spell. Carrying the top weight into the race, the five-year-old will be mounted by in-form jockey Nash Rawiller.
The other racing highlight of the day is the Markey Saddlery Handicap. Mornington based Urban Explorer will make the trip north to contest the race and is set to be the short-priced favourite on track this weekend after his substantial three-length last start win at Caulfield.
The other horse in contention to take out the 2200m race is Chris Waller-trained Sour Mash. Experienced jockey Corey Brown has again been booked to ride the gelding and will be looking to lead the five-year-old to back-to-back wins if successful on Saturday.
