Friday, 13 July 2012: The weather is not going to be brilliant but it seems the sun may come out and there will still be showers.
Friday is fillies day with the Cherry Hinton and the Falmouth Stakes for the equine ladies. The Cherry Hinton G2 is for the 2yo over 1200m. There are two unbeaten fillies in this and one thing is certain is that there won't be afterwards. Of the two, we are leaning towards Cty Image at 4/1 ahead of Sendmylovetorose on 11/4. Also on 4/1 is Maureen, about which we know very little.
The Falmouth is G1 for the older girls over 1600m and has a star attraction in the Pirx d'Ispahan winner Golden Lilac, trained by Andre Fabre with Maxim Guyon riding. She's 11/10. Maybe is on 6/1 but is one who may not start, with Chachamaidee and Giofra on 8/1, and we like Joviality as the main challenger on 10/1.
Saturday's card has the Superlative Stakes G2 for the 2yo over 1400m with a field of 11 at this moment.
Olympic Glory is 9/4, Artigiano for Godolphin on 5/1, Lines of Battle 11/2, and we rather like Luhai, trained by Mick Channon and a winner over this course and distance, at 10/1.
Then we ave the Darley July Cup over 1200m, part of the British Sprint Championship and the Global Sprint Challenge. Bated Breath is 3/1, Society Rock 4/1. Strong Suit 15/2, Ortensia (to be ridden by William Buick this time) 6/1. Sepoy, now with Godolpin, is 10/1. Apart from Ortensia who should win if she handles the going, we like the chances of Libranno at 12/1 as he won over 1400 which would be about right with these conditions, and Fire Lily 16/1.
