Thursday, 2 August 2012: Frankel
Frankel - veni vidi vinci - and that's about all you can say other than a string of superlatives. For the record he finished 6l clear of Fahrr.
The Vintage Stakes went to Olympic Gold on the day when GB won their first gold medals, with Artigiano second and Luhalf, a not that bad horse of Mick Channon's, third at 80/1!
Thursday had the Goodwood Cup as a highlight - G2 over 3200m with Sadler's Rock on 9/4. Colour Vision 3/1 and Simenon 4/1, all very good stayers and one looks here for possible Melbourne Cup candidates.
The Richmond Stakes G2 for 2yos over 1200 has a field of 8 with Ahern on 15/8, Master of War 11/4 and Cay Verde 4/1.
The Lillie Langtry for f&m G3 over 2800m has Sir Michael Stoute's Estimate on 9/4, Hawaafex 7/2, Wild Coco 11/2 and we rather like Midnight Soprano on 7/1 who is having a great season.
