Racing and Sports is responsible for preparing Timeform Ratings for all Australian and New Zealand racing which are now being supplied to the prestiguos UK based Timeform for use in their highly respected publications. The Timeform ratings have been globally recognised as the measure of thoroughbred performance for more than 50 years. They are the most accurate and respected ratings produced anywhere in the world. Racing and Sports will publish each week a revised set of Timeform ratings covering two-year-olds, three-year-olds, four-year-olds, five-years-olds plus and an overall all ages category. The Racing and Sports Timeform ratings are expressed in pounds and are a measure of each horses ability. They are determined by comparing horses against each other and take into account such factors as class of race, weight carried, beaten margin and class of opposition. The ratings are weight for age adjusted so that horses with equal ratings are classified equal in ability irrespective of age. At the end of each racing season, Racing and Sports will re-calibrate the whole seasons racing, to "zero" out, if required, any anomalies that can creep into the figures during each season's analysis. In this way the ratings from year to year can be kept to a common benchmark making the comparisons of horses from year to year very accurate. What does each table show? The Racing And Sports Timeform Ratings list for the various categories of statistics the top 20 ranked qualifiers. They are updated weekly and always cover the current racing season.
