Message: Can anyone shed any light on the former Glamour horse of Australian racing 'Mouawad'?. I had heard that he was infertile, then sold to China where he was 'revived'. However if the horse was infertile I could'nt see how he could all of a sudden become fertile. I know the chinese have some amazing remedies but reviving sterile nads is incredible!
Does anyone know any facts about how many horses he has supposedly sired? I have tried to find out just from sheer curiosity with no luck.
Message: Patsy Mouawad was not "sterile" he was considered "infertile" in the sense that he was not capable of siring enough foals to be commercially viable. My recollection was that he had a very low sperm count. The Chinese have managed a few foals out of him. He has not all of a sudden become perfectly normal Patsy Vin Cox a blood stock agent here- saw one of these few progeny race recently on a visit-it finished up the track-in China! Being Octagonal's brother-he would most assuredly have been a flop at Stud here even had he been fertile.
Message: Mouawad is almost, but not completely infertile - he gets about 12% of his mares pregnant. Which isn't fertile enough for commercial purposes.
According to the records from www.chinastudbook.com and www.mawww.com (Beijing Jockey Club), he's had 6 runners, from 12 horses of racing age, for 1 winner and 3 placegetters. His oldest living progeny are 4yos. Interestingly, the winner (Diva) is a 3/4 sister to Dignity Dancer!
