hi to everyone .. just wanting to get some experienced punter's veiws on something i have been recently thinking about..
I have been thinking of starting up a bit off a all bet running say over a period of a month...
now if i start with $100 and aim at backing short price fav's for the place only.. if i could snag 10 bets in a row at $1.30 my 100 would have turned into about $1378 bucks... now to me this does not sound all that hardsurely..with a lot of self control and some very good judgement..it seems like a nice way of trying to make a quid..
and yes i realize once you got to the 8th 9th 10th betyou would be starting to feel the pressure..but after all u only started with $100...i think i would be happy to take my winnings and start again after 10 bets for 10 wins.. if by chance you decided to get greedy and go for 15 winners in a row the result would be $5118... great return for pulling off 15 short price winners in a row..
maybe it does not have to be limited to racing.. tennis footy cricket and other sports could be bet on also... the goal is to get winners of 1.30 minimun..
like to hear your thoughts

oh well time to start again and yes seashells i will be sarting with chelsea...
as far as searching for best tote divs..yes thats what i should be doing but no i could not be bothered.. happy to stick with vic tote and what ever it pays is whatever it pays..

It’s nothing new but other experienced punters here will also tell you that place punting on the tote is the quick way to the poorhouse.
Place betting is a tough gig even with fixed odds but on the tote, especially the vic tote, it is just folly.
I found it hard to take you seriously in the first place but when you’re happy to restrict yourself to 1 tote which for your first selection paid $1.10, as opposed to $1.40 in NSW and $1.50 in Qld, it was even harder. Would you be happy if $40 fell out of your pocket whilst walking down the street? As indicated by another poster this now effects all future bets – instead of having $150 to all-up you have $110!
I damn the vic tote as the worst for place bettors because they have no guaranteed minimum like NSW do with a $1.04 min. In Victoria you can back a horse and just get your money back - $1.00 the place! It’s right parimutuel price may be $1.09 but due to rounding down, you get $1.00 – what a rort!
With 1 min to go before a race it may be hard knowing which tote to play so take the guess work out and bet with a corporate who offers best tote. They readily take $100 or $1300 bets on the place tote. They also offer sports betting which is often far better value than tab sportsbet. I’m not going to make comment on your recent switch to sports betting, suffice to say favourites get rolled in the footy all the time too!

Doesn't matter if he was beaten 100 lengths into 3rd place, if you've got more money in your pocket after the race than you had before, then you're doing OK.

GARY STILL.. man of little faith ..a man of your punting knowledge should know that all that matters is if u collect or not..yes the horse mya have scrambled into 3rd place without going around a horse and beaten half the straight.. BUT the point is young man the tab still gave me my winnings didnt they.. .. pick up the paper tomoz and it will say the horse ran 3rd and the divi was $1.10..

Clear The Deck paid $1.40 at nsw tab, off to a good start, good luck to the next 9 legs!
Just a reminder of recent failures as early as last Saturday (TinPan, Nuclear Sky, Excites, Liger, Matchless)

Paid $1.40 on NSW TAB Would of been better for you. You would of had $140 the place on your next selection instead of only $110.

lol off to a flying start ..clear the decks or (close the deal) as i put up ran 3rd at the huge price of $1.10.. well not quite the $1.30 but hey the bet is still alive..
so here is what will be the next 3 bets if each is successfull..
2nd bet is ..SOUTH AFRICA to beat the paki's at $1.45... if succesfull date played 7/2/07
3rd bet is ... CHELSEA to beat middlesbrough in the english premier league soccer at $1.23
date played 11/2/07
if succesful the 4th bet is...
BAYERN MUNICH to beat armenera bielefeld in the german bundesilgia soccer league...at $1.20 date played 12/2/07
yes two of these are not at the $1.30 but i will be happy to settle for the odds declared ...

1. this scheme is doomed for failure - 0% chance. Apologies for the negative feedback
2. your 1st selection is currently $1.10 the place - do you carry on or is $1.30 a required minimum at the time of placing the bet?

Considering you would have to re-invest your winnings you would have to round down your 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th bets to the nearest 50 cents. (if you round up you spend more than your $100)
By my calculations the return for your $100 would be $1056.90 Plus the $1.30 you put in your pocket from rounding down.
Hope someone finds that interesting

happy to announce the first bet will be today race 8 at ballarat.. no.2 close the deal.. not sure if will get the $1.30 but should be close... tossed up between this horse and lady sequaloa in the same race.. went for close the deal because it has bit more exposed form and had more race experience..do think lady sequaloa will be in the finish also.. anyway lets see how i go( fingers crossed this first one gets up can u imagine the barrage of abuse i will get if it fails too deleiver).. i will be putting the tips up on here as i go.. however there may be the odd occasion i dont get a chance to put it up before the race.. but i wil try my best too..therefore everyone can see i am fair dinkum and not crowing after the race like somepeople we all know on here.... cheers the diva
