Just having a look at the noms for the adelaide cup on 12th march 2007.

There are 66 noms and looking now this will be a midweek class handicap by the time the race is on as they are a very ordinary bunch

The move to march does not seem to have worked. The field last year (the 1st of the move) was ordinary. And yes there were some ordinary winners when the race was run in May, but the adelaide cup is now right in the middle of the melbourne and sydney autumn carnivals.

What is wrong with the Adelaide cup? The stakes is 400k and this was the prizemoney for monday's Hobart cup.

I was over there a few weeks ago and attended Morphetville. Talk about a ghost town, there was hardly any people in attendance and the amount of bookies on course was minimal.

I had not been to morphetville for about 10 years and it was still all the same, hardly any changes to facilities.

Adelaide racing used to be nearly 3rd behind melbourne and sydney and equal to brisbane. It is now well behind brisbane and even perth. Any Adelaide people know the reason why?

also noticed the noms for the cup - you're right mick, teribble.

the hayes stable have one nom who is virtually a hurdler, but in years gone by would have had loads at least nominated for the race.

havent been to the track myself in ages but the sajc marketing is a joke and the food/drinks prices are absolutely ridiculous

i like watching the horses parade, especially good ones, and there arent any in adelaide at the moment

so i'll stick to a nice comfy pub where a big meal costs less than a tuna sandwich at the track

Ever been to Globe Derby on a Saturday night?
I'm sure the club hires a crowd for the evening and even then each person has about 100m of room to themselves.
