Thursday, 23 April 2009: This week's award goes to the customer who placed 2 bets on the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic v NSW Swifts Netball clash on Monday night. They had $14,030 on Waikato winning by 1-5 goals and $14,030 on Waikato winning by 6-10 goals.

The NSW Swifts put in one of their most disappointing ANZ Championship efforts and went down 63-45 meaning Waikato won by 11+ goals and our punter was left lamenting.

NRL

TAB Sportsbet punters have launched a mammoth plunge on Penrith this afternoon with money coming strongly for them in their Monday Night Football clash with Gold Coast but also to make the final 8 in season 2009.

The plunge was led by a $50,000 wager @ $5 for Penrith to make the final 8. They currently sit outside of the 8 on four points and meet competition leaders Gold Coast on Monday Night.

In that Monday night match Penrith have been the subject of a pluge as well.

Bets of $40,000 @ $2.05 and $20,000 @ $2 were taken on them to win the match along with $20,000 @ $1.85, $5000 @ $1.80 and $3,500 @ $1.75 all on the Panthers at the +2.5 point line.

Bets taken yesterday include $6,000 and $5,000 @ $1.85 +2.5

Doubts over Titans co-captain Luke Bailry no doubt added to the punters confidence.

The sides have met once at CUA Stadium with the Titans getting home 24-22 in 2007.

In other matches this weekend Canberra have been well supported to defeat Bulldogs with bets of $22,000 @ $1.85 as well as $25,000 and $10,000 @ $1.80

Warriors will be out for back to back wins at Olympic Park on Saturday against Melbourne and have been backed at the +7.5 point line. Major bet was $22,000 @ $1.90

AFL

A number of matches are attracting interest in this week's AFL with Carlton the best backed side.

The Blues come off a loss in Sydney last week and meet Western Bulldogs, also coming off a loss, on Sunday. Good money for Carlton at the +6.5 point line with bets of $15,000, $10,000 (twice) and $5,000 @ $1.90

Western Bulldogs loss in the west last week hasn't deterred a customer risking $7,000 @ $1.15 the Dogs to make the final 8.

Essendon meet Collingwood at the MCG in the traditional Anzac Day match with the Bombers popular at the +17.5 point line. Bets of $10,000, $8,000 and $5,000 (twice) were taken @ $1.90.

One bet of $5,000 @ $2.90 was also taken on Essendon to win the match.

Adelaide are short odds ($1.33) against last start winners Melbourne but one bet of $10,000 and another of $5,000 was taken on the Crows.

Competition leaders St Kilda meet Port Adelaide on Friday with one customer placing $5,000 on the Saints winning by under 39.5 points at the odds of $2.50

Multi players are trying to create value for themselves with bets of $10,000 @ $1.51 on Collingwood/Geelong and $5,000 @ $1.83 on Collingwood/Adelaide.

ODI CRICKET

Interest was high in last night's opening ODI between Pakistan and Australia being played in Dubai.

Punters finished on the wrong side of the leger with Pakistan prevailing. Bets of $7,000 and $5,000 @ $1.70 along with $10,000 @ $1.67 went astray on the Aussies.

Australia go up as $1.80 chances for Game 2 on Friday with Pakistan once again outsiders at $1.95
