Thursday, 28 June 2012:
Patty Mills has reportedly declined a second-year option with NBA franchise San Antonio, but the move does not guarantee he is leaving the Spurs.
San Antonio Express-News says Mills is a restricted free agent and will be able to solicit offers from other NBA teams when the new league year officially starts on Sunday.
However, San Antonio will be able to retain Mills by matching any rival offer he receives.
Mills, who looms as a key figure for Australia at the London Olympics, was used as a back-up point guard at the Spurs and given little game time during the NBA play-offs.
The 23-year-old signed with the Spurs in March after a contract wrangle with the Xinjian Flying Tigers, the Chinese side he signed with during the NBA lockout.
