Wednesday, 11 July 2012:

Sydney FC have signed Panama striker Yairo Yau for the upcoming A-League season.

Sydney FC coach Ian Crook says the 22-year-old is on loan from his Panamanian club Sporting San Miguelito.

"We're very excited about being able to entice Yau to Sydney FC," Crook said in a statement on Wednesday.

"He's a current Panamanian international and the boy can play," he said.

"We now have a good group of attacking options with Yau and Kruno Lovrek joining Joel Chianese, Nick Carle, Brett Emerton, Mitch Mallia, Ali Abbas and Dimi Petratos to give our Members and fans some excitement up front."

Yau has played four matches for Panama, scoring one goal in a friendly against Guyana in May 2012.

He was also a member of the squad that recently started Round 3 of CONCACAF 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying with wins over Cuba and Honduras.
