Tuesday, 24 July 2012:

QPR have discussed the prospect of signing Craig Bellamy, vice-chairman Amit Bhatia has revealed.

Liverpool striker Bellamy has been tipped for a move to Rangers after taking part in the Olympics with Great Britain.

New Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to keep the 33-year-old at Anfield but Rangers could yet swoop for the Welshman, who has also been linked with a return to Cardiff.

Bellamy, who is entering the final year of his contract, played under QPR boss Mark Hughes both for Wales and at Manchester City and Blackburn.

Bhatia told Sky Sports News: "Craig is definitely a name that has been mentioned, a name we've discussed. There are a few options.

"We have been a fan of Craig Bellamy for the last few years, ever since he became available - that's not to say we have not been fans of other players.

"Many names have been tossed about, and who Mark settles on eventually will be his, and we'll do our best to support him."

QPR have also been linked with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and Bhatia added: "It would be hard to speculate at this point.

"It's not the right thing to do. Mark likes to have a long list of players! We'll see what happens.

"Many of the players we are after potentially have interest from other clubs also."
