Thursday, 26 July 2012: Dual Olympic gold medalist Michael Klim has joined forces with the world's biggest betting exchange, Betfair, to provide daily analysis and exclusive form for the London 2012 swim competition.

Klim, who famously broke the 100 metres world record during the relay in at the Sydney Olympics, will provide daily Olympic analysis and insight for punters and pundits alike.

The dual Olympian believes the Australian swim team is set for a successful London campaign, unsurprisingly lead by the world's best sprinter, James Magnussen.

“On form, James Magnussen is the Black Caviar of swimming,” Klim boldly declares.

“When you look at the speed at which he is travelling against his peers - a bit quicker than 2 metres per second – he is over half a body length ahead of James Roberts then a further half length ahead of Cesar Cielo Filho, making him at least a full body length in front of the rest of the field.

“This is on current times and if there's any improvement left in him at all, his current odds of $1.40 are a luxury,” Klim says.

While Betfair punters believe Magnussen will prevail in the 100m freestyle, sentiment also points to an Australian quinella with James Roberts the $8 second favourite for gold, and trading at $1.32 to medal.

Aside from the dynamic men's sprinters, Klim has identified a genuine outsider as a medal chance in the women's breaststroke.

“The media focus on Leisel Jones has been pretty unfair but I wouldn't be taking any less than the current $12.50 she currently sits at in the market.

“Another Australian, Leiston Pickett $27 is one I would be backing ahead of Leisel.

“For those searching for some value or a potential trading opportunity, while it's hard to take on Michael Phelps in the 100m fly, one swimmer certain to make a mark at his first Olympics is Aussie Chris Wright.

“The Queenslander has swum 51.6 seconds in the lead-ups while Phelps has managed 51 flat. I'm confident he'll make the final, and if he does so in the impressive fashion he's capable of, he'll start a lot shorter in the final than his current $36.”

Michael Klim will be offering daily tips, form and comment for each day of the London 2012 swim program with his exclusive analysis available online each afternoon from Sunday at betting.betfair.com.au and via Twitter at @Betfair_Aus
