Monday, 16 July 2012:

Carlton captain Chris Judd must face the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night over his controversial chicken wing tackle on North Melbourne's Leigh Adams.

The match review panel have refused to allow the two-time Brownlow Medallist the option of submitting an early guilty plea.

Judd bent back the arm of Adams while the Kangaroos midfielder was lying face down at Etihad Stadium last Friday night, with Adams requiring treatment for a shoulder injury.

Judd's sanction will now be at the discretion of the tribunal jury, given the panel was unable to classify the unusual incident according to their set penalty guidelines.

North Melbourne midfielder Jack Ziebell is facing a three-match ban stemming from the same match, for rough conduct against Aaron Joseph.

Ziebell's poor record stopped him from reducing the penalty to a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea.

Brisbane are set to lose midfield star Daniel Rich and valuable big man Daniel Merrett for Saturday's derby against Gold Coast at the Gabba.

Rich has been offered a two-match ban for rough conduct against St Kilda tagger Clinton Jones on Saturday.

Merrett faces a one-match sanction for charging Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt.

But the Suns are also set to lose a player, Danny Stanley able to accept a one-match ban for rough conduct on Richmond star forward Jack Riewoldt in Cairns on Saturday night.

Four other players can avoid suspension and accept reprimands, provided they enter early guilty pleas.

They include North Melbourne pair Nathan Grima, who is charged with striking Nick Duigan, and Sam Wright, booked for rough conduct on Mitch Robinson.

The others are Essendon's Jake Carlisle, charged with rough conduct on Port Adelaide's Paul Stewart, and West Coast's Patrick McGinnity, facing a charge of rough conduct on Sydney's Ryan O'Keefe.

The Blues had one piece of good news, with fullback Michael Jamison cleared of kneeing North Melbourne star forward Drew Petrie.

The panel took into account a medical report from the Kangaroos and said the incident was deemed below the force needed to constitute an offence.
