Monday, 22 October 2007: Racing Victoria stewards will today receive a report into the possible cause of Maldivian's neck injury sustained in the barriers before the Caulfield Cup.
It is believed a metal clamp from broadcasting equipment was the cause of the cut, placed on the barrier by audio and visual company Sportscolour.
Sportscolour chief executive Andrew Simmons has been asked by Racing Victoria chairman of stewards Des Gleeson to make no comment on the incident, but to compile a report of the nature of equipment used to broadcast barrier activity.
That report is expected to be handed to Gleeson this morning as stewards continue their investigation into the incident.
Connections of Maldivian have stated that regardless of its outcome they will not be pursuing legal action.
West Australian managing owner Joe Ricciardo yesterday said there would be no winners in litigation but was hoping there was a lesson learned and stewards ensured it wouldn't happen again.
