OZESPEED FIGURES USED IN PREMIUM FORM PRODUCTS

The OzeSpeed Figure is a single number representation for the purposes of measuring the merit of each horses' racetrack performance.

They are based on the final race time and are a sophisticated blend of horse speed, class, track speed and the relative merits of the opposition faced.

The higher the OzeSpeed Figure (OSF) the better the horse. The OZF is transferable across distances with equal accuracy.

However just because a horse runs an OSF of 80 over six furlongs does not necessarily mean it will run 80 over 1 and 1/8th miles. These are judgements bettors must make themselves.

Racing Down-Under has developed the OSF after many years of experience with thoroughbred racing and the figures have been used with great success in Australia.

The OSF is one of the most powerful tools for bettors in being able to quickly and accurately line up the genuine competitors in each race.

The OSF provide a strong foundation for Handicappers to use as a basis of their pre race form and handicapping techniques.

Racing Down Under uses two OSF for prediction purposes.

One is without the effect of weight and the other is taking weight shifts into account.

As distinct from North America, Racing in Australia, predominantly on turf is more sensitive to the weight allocated to horses to carry and these weight shifts do effect the outcome of races.

Consequently two sets of OSF's are provided in the Premium Product - OzeSpeed Chart which serves to provide two separate perspectives.

The OSF's are remarkably similar to the widely respective Beyer Speed Figures so long recognoised as the yard stick of thoroughbred performance measurement for North American bettors.

For example a horse with an OSF (unadjusted for weight) of 90 in Australia will be roughly equivalent in performance to a horse with a Beyer Speed Figure of 90 currently racing in North America.
