Colgate Optic White Stakes 3U , 1600m
Race Synopsis: Phenomenal mare Winx again produced her amazing turn of foot to record her 27th successive win, her 20th at Group 1 level, in scoring yet another brilliant victory here. She settled back in second last place in the seven-horse field, tracked up (behind Le Romain) on passing the 600m, turned for home in fourth place, sprinted brilliantly to hit the front coming to the 100m and then draw away to score by four lengths. The three-time Group 1 winner Le Romain travelled nicely in third place, moved up (three wide) at the 600m, grabbed the lead at the 200m and then battled on gamely for a very good second, simply being outclassed by the winner over the closing stages. Egg Tart raced near the tail of the seven-horse field, on the rails, improved (between runners) on straightening and then ran on very well for third in a most promising effort at her second run this preparation. Ace High was quickly away and then settled nicely outside the leader (Religify) until the home turn and then battled on nicely for fourth in a sound performance.
