Race Synopsis: Voodoo Lad gave the entire field a start yet was too strong over the final 100m to finally get his Group 1 with career win 13, including seven stakes. He jumped fairly but rider Damien Oliver allowed him to drift to the rear soon after the start, picking up one spot down the side and approaching the last corner. Oliver angled him five wide rounding into the straight and headed even wider for the centre of the track near the 200m, ranged alongside the leaders at the 100m then forged into the lead with 50m to go before pulling three quarters of a length clear at the line. Enticing Star was gallant in defeat, being third last approaching the straight entrance and also heading wide upon straightening. She accelerated quickly to join the leaders at the 100m then fought the winner for a couple of strides before relenting late but no disgrace. Malaguerra improved quickly from midfield rounding into the straight, grabbed the lead in the middle of the track near the 100m and looked a major chance but was outfinished to the line for a solid third. I'll Have A Bit settled in 12th place, took a while to gain clear running and then ran home late to nab fourth.
