STABLE UPDATE - Godolphin Report from John O'Shea
Godolphin trainer John O'Shea reports on stable runners at Flemington and Rosehill on February 18.
Race 4 - Talindert Stakes
PLATINUM (Damien Oliver): “He’s been gelded since his first run and has trialled nicely since. The straight track should suit him because he’s a big horse who will appreciate bit of room. It just depends on whether you draw the right side of the track, which he looks to have done.
Race 6 - CS Hayes Stakes
MALAISE (Andrew Mallyon): “Both his runs this time in have been good and he looks to have trained on nicely. We’ve added blinkers to help him concentrate. He’s going well but he’s just drawn a bit wide.
MORTON'S FORK (Craig Williams): “He should appreciate the 1400 second up. He’s got a good gate and he’s down slightly in grade.”
TRENCHANT (also entered for Moonee Valley Friday night): “Didn’t get into the race first up, so we’ll be looking for improvement.”
Race 5 - Silver Slipper Stakes
VERANILLO (Brenton Avdulla): “He’s up in class, so we’ll know where we stand with him after Saturday. There’s a couple of smart ones in the race, but at this stage we’ll be going on to the Golden Slipper. He’s a very nice colt who had shown ability in his first prep and raced up to it with a good, tough win.”
Race 6 - Hobartville Stakes
BRYNEICH (Brenton Avdulla): “He lacked a little focus first up so I’ve put blinkers on him to try and turn him around. His win at Canterbury before that was very good and he’s trained on nicely and he gets a good gate. Another one whose up in grade, it’s quite a strong race which will allow us to see where he’s at.”
Race 7 - Millie Fox Stakes
CIRCULAR (Brenton Avdulla): “I thought she was very good first up at Randwick. She wasn’t far from the winner and raced well. She’s gone on since and I expect her to run well. There are some nice races for her during the autumn, she’ll probably go to Group 3 at Randwick next start which should really suit her.
Race 8 - Parramatta Cup
ALLERGIC (Ben Melham): “He’s in great order and has very good second up record. I’d probably like it a bit softer for him. He’s a good, honest horse who has run very well right up to Group 1 level. One of those horses who are the backbone of the stable”
