WEEKEND POST MORTEM – February 11/13
Chris Scholtz reviews racing around Australia on February 11 and 13.
WINX: Say no more – an absolute gem!
BLACK HEART BART: If WInx is racing’s darling, here’s our street fighter – love the way he just keeps getting the job done.
JOSH PARR: Daring ride on Global Glamour brought him an important win for top stable. Has some big chances coming up.
KRIS LEES: Three Group wins on one day a first for one of the best strike rate stables in Australia.
KATELYN MALLYON/ANDREW NOBLET: Had the right horse to take advantage of the Caulfield pattern.
KELLY DOUGHTY: Has done a great job to win five straight with the promising Arki after the horse had two years off.
JEFF LLOYD/TOBY EDMONDS: A fine Saturday treble for this hot combination. Seems to be standard fare for them these days.
DOTHRAKI: The one they wanted and they left in again. No more.
HANWRITTEN: Found wanting under pressure. Limited.
EL DIVINO: He’s a long way removed from his big brother
RIDES OF THE DAY
HUGH BOWMAN: Mr Cool was copy book perfect on Winx.
BRAD RAWILLER: Go the monkey off his back with two well-judged winning rides.
CRAIG WILLIAMS: I’ll say it again – when he’s hot none are better.
CAULFIELD: Will we get a fair track on Blue Diamond day?
TOM MELBOURNE: Why did they change tactics? What will they do next time? Was anybody watching?
CHAUTAUQUA: Is he still the best sprinter? Should he go to 1400m or further? Plenty to ponder!
MORPHETTVILE BOMB SCARE: Shades of the The Fireman/Sheil Sail bomb scare at Randwick in the 1970s. Smarties still reckon it was a signal?
SECOND BULLET: Big go when smarties realised he would get first use of the leaderish track.
FUHRYK: Punters were well and truly on the Craig Williams/Lindsay Park bandwagon with this filly.
DARREN WEIR: The ‘Back Weir, Drink Beer’ disciples had plenty to celebrate after Black Heart Bart and Burning Front went back to back
ALLZIN: Boys from the bush just failed to land a good go at Randwick. Unlucky not to collect.
INVINCIBLE GEM: Punters got it right backing this classy filly to do the job against the boys.
GLOBAL GLAMOUR: The ratings said she had to win. Hammered at the short odds.
RUBY RED HEART: When a trainer declares for one publicly the punters listen....and bet accordingly!
JAMEKA: Excellent start to her Australian Cup campaign.
OREGON’S DAY: Hard to miss her strong first-up placing.
HUMIDOR: There’s a good win coming for this horse.
PARIAH: Great sectionals. He’ll be in the thick of it in the Blue Diamond.
ENDLESS DRAMA: Pleasing first-up effort behind Winx.
SHILLELAGH: Forgive run. Knocked out of it by interference.
