More Joyous Arrives At Newmarket
More Than Ready’s champion mare More Joyous arrived in the UK last Friday to prepare for her booking to world champion Frankel in September.
Owner-breeder John Singleton also sent his G2 winner More Strawberries, also by More Than Ready, to Banstead Manor Stud at Newmarket where Frankel will cover his first southern hemisphere book of mares.
Frankel will commence covering a limited southern book next month at a fee of 110,000 pounds ($A186,300).
“They left here on Wednesday and landed safe and sound,” Singleton’s bloodstock manager Duncan Grimley said.
“There is not another first-season stallion in the world you would want to go to and we want to breed the best with the best.”
More Than Ready finished another successful season in Australia with 131 winners of 216 races for earnings of $6.49 million.
More Joyous is the leader among his 117 individual stakes winners with earnings of $4.57 million.
She was retired in April after seven G1 wins in the Flight Stakes, George Main Stakes, Toorak Hcp, Queen of the Turf Stakes, Futurity Stakes, Doncaster Mile and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
More Than Ready’s yearlings sold for up to $700,000 at the 2013 Inglis Easter Sale where 22 of his progeny sold for an average of $260,000, a lucrative return on his 2013 service fee of $99,000 inc gst at Vinery Stud.
