Beckett On His Way

Victoria's Independent Stallion Station has completed its move to a new property near Echuca.

Now known as Independent Stallions Victoria, the stud is now located at the Longwood property that was formely the home of Vinery Stud.

The stallions now residing at the property are Caulfield Cup winner Diatribe, Victoria Derby winner Redding, the successful imports Dolphin Street and Brief Truce and newer arrival Arazi.

The roster will be complete later this month with the arrival from overseas of Beckett., a Group 1-winning son of Fairy King.

"Group 1 winning juveniles are always desirable stallion prospects and when you consider Beckett's remarkable pedigree and tremendous physical presence, the opportunity to breed him is mouth watering," said ISV managing director Mike Becker.

Beckett, out of the unraced mare Groom Order, was the top-priced yearling at the 1999 Tattersalls Houghton Sales.

He should bee keenly souht by broodmare owners as the late Fairy King has left an indelible stamp on Australian racing and breeding.

Beckett is a member of the great sire dynasty that includes Sadler's Wells, Nureyev, Thatch, Tate Gallery, Perugino and Jade Robbery.

Fairy King's sons currently at stud in Australia include the boom sire Encost De Lago and Arc winner Helissio.
