Progressive 4YO Fit For Purpose Horseform (Show A Heart x Gag Order by Conatus) became Show A Heart’s 25th individual stakes winner when he won the Listed Tattersall’s Mile.

Show A Heart, a rising 20-year-old, is now in semi-retirement at Queensland’s Glenlogan Park Stud where he has resided for his entire stud career.

The sire of G1 winners Heart Of Dreams, Toorak Toff and Woorim covered only 19 mares last year.

The Liam Birchley-trained Fit For Purpose was purchased for only $14,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

He has now won six of his 18 starts with five placings for prize money of $246,150.

Show A Heart is one of three winning foals to race from the six-time winner Gag Order, who has a weanling filly by Nicconi and is in foal to Top Echelon.

Fit For Purpose’s second dam Suppress (Don’t Say Halo) was a juvenile winner of two races and is a half-sister to the Listed winner She’s Academic (Royal Academy) and stakes-placed Let’s Agree (Clear Choice).

Race Synopsis: Fit For Purpose, under a clever ride by Dale Smith, broke through for his maiden stakes win and took his overall record to six wins from 18 career starts. The four-year-old jumped awkwardly to settle back of midfield, remaining there past the 1000m then drifted further (rails) to have four behind him at the 600m. Smith waited, pushed forward along the fence into the straight then was presented with a lovely rails run, bounded forward to share the lead, then ran clear over the last 200m to win well by a length and a half. From midfield, No Annamossity ran up approaching the last corner, was widest turning in, then kept on strongly to the line to nab second late. Lordag stuck with No Annamossity the length of the straight but lost second in a head-bobber, while top-weight Religify, who was always handy, did well to hold on for a close fourth under his 61kg.
