Famous Arc Winners In Viddora's Family

High class mare Viddora became the third Group One winner for boom sire I Am Invincible when she blitzed her rivals with a brilliant performance in the $1 million Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot.

Viddora is one of two winners for her dam Snow Flight, a New Zealand-bred daughter of Octagonal's full brother Colombia.

Snow Flight won five races including two in Melbourne and is also the dam of the multiple Hong Kong winner Relentless Me.

The 5YO Viddora Horseform (I Am Invincible x Snow Flight by Colombia) has now won seven races and has placed seven times in her 23 career starts for Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell.

Saturday’s win was her third at stakes level and boosted her prizemoney to $1,473,680.

2017 Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes

Snow Flight is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Zeddane (Danske) from the unraced Zed Du Jour (Zeditave).

Zeddane produced five winners from five foals to race while third dam Del Du Jour (Be My Guest) is a half-sister to the dams of the Hong Kong Derby winner Keen Winner (Selkirk) and the stakes winner Zanteca (Zabeel).

The family features the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winning mare Detroit (Riverman), dam of her own Arc winer Carnegie (Sadler’s Wells) and G2 winner Antisaar (Northern Dancer).

Detroit is also the second dam of the Australian G3 winner Dawn Wall (Fastnet Rock).

I Am Invincible has sired a total of 24 stakes winners.

Viddora’s win was special for Kennewell as it marked a sentimental homecoming to the city of his birth.

“It's absolutely terrific. It means a bit as I was actually born in Perth before moving to Adelaide when I was young,” Kennewell revealed.

Kennewell is currently third on the South Australian training premiership and has enjoyed recent success in Victoria.

He said Viddora would now almost certainly head to the Gold Coast to run in the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint (1200m) on January 13.

The Viddora story for Kennewell started at the 2014 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale where he went to $40,000 to secure the young filly.

Last January she was second in the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint on the Gold Coast and had performed with distinction over the Melbourne spring carnival with a nose second in the G1 Moir Stakes and a fourth in the G1 Manikato Stakes.

Race Synopsis: Runner-up twice previously at Group One, the Lloyd Kennewell-trained mare Viddora broke through for a deserved win at the elite level here. She was ridden quietly by Joe Bowditch and settled back in ninth place on the rails before nicely along the inner from the 600m. She switched across heels at the home turn, sprinted quickly to take the lead at the 100m and then went on to score comfortably in an impressive effort. It was also a very good ride by Bowditch. The Lindsay Park-trained mare Fuhryk missed the start badly and was last in the 12-horse field on settling. She got along the inner (behind Viddora) from the 700m, stuck to the rails at the home turn and went through to third at the 100m before fighting on well for second in a good performance. Durendal had a good trip in third place on the rails, behind the leader (Caipirinha). He moved up to challenge at the 200m and then battled on well for third after seeming to have had every chance. Profit Street was fifth on the rails and held on well for (2.8 lengths) fourth. Favourite Rock Magic was caught deep and eased to settle in tenth place. He went deep at the home turn and made ground for (3 lengths) fifth without threatening. Santa Ana Lane was last nearing the home turn, went widest of all at the home turn and kept running on well for (3.1 lengths) sixth just in advance of Dainty Tess who battled on well for (3.2 lengths) seventh. State Solicitor raced in eighth place and did not look a winning chance at any stage, failing to make any ground to finish in that position, beaten four and a half lengths.
