History Repeats For Waller At Magic Millions

Champion trainer Chris Waller says his Magic Millions winners Tumultuous and Invincibella epitomise what the $10 million Gold Coast race day is all about.

Tumultuous Horseform became the eighth dual winner in Magic Millions history when he recorded back-to-back wins in the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy on Saturday.

Invincibella Horseform then made it nine when she went back-to-back for successive wins in the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies and Mares.

Waller said the pair were a great advertisement for what the Magic Millions concept is about.

“It’s not just a big payday for owners, connections and breeders. It’s a great party for people coming from all across Australia and around the world.

“To win a race on this day lets people know that you’re out there and doing your job. It’s a great day to be training winners.”

Tumultous (Fastnet Rock x Boisterous Lady by Rivotious) was a $350,000 purchase at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and has now won more than $2 million prizemoney for a big group of Waller stable clients including Noel Greenhalgh and Segenhoe Thoroughbreds.

His dam Boisterous Lady was a Listed stakes winner and has also produced the G1 ATC Australian Oaks winner Rena’s Lady, G2 winner Vatuvei and G3 winner Raise and Listed placegetter Monopole.

Boisterous Lady died in 2013 with Tumultuous her final foal.

Tumultuous won by a neck taking his overall record to six wins and six placings from 34 starts with Waller already looking towards 2020.

"He won it last year and we set him to win it again right back then so why wouldn't we set him for the same race yet again," Waller said.

"He is a summer horse.

Waller has Gai Waterhouse’s all-time record of Magic Millions wins in his sights after Invincibella gave him a feature double for the second consecutive year.

“This is the perfect distance for this mare.” Walller said. “She won this race last year and she’s come back with a bigger weight this year.

“I’m so proud of her, she thoroughly deserves it.”

A $185,000 purchase at 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Invincibella (I Am Invincible x Abscond by Galileo) has now won more than $2 million in prizemoney for her Star Thoroughbreds syndicate.

Invincibella’s dam Abscond ha also produced the G3 placed Secret Blaze (Sizzling) while her third dam produced the G1 winner The Hind (McGinty) with eight stakes horses under Invincibella’s first four dams.

Invincibella is bred on a similar cross to G1 winner Magna Grecia (Invincible Spirit) and G2 winner Ancient Spirit (Invincible Spirit).

Abscond had a colt by Extreme Choice in 2018 and was bred to Spirit of Boom last year.

Her youngest racing age foal is a full sister to Secret Blaze named Well Done You who is in training with Daniel Williams.

Waller made a splash during the week with the purchase of several yearlings by I Am Invincible at the Magic Millions sale, including a pair for $1.3 million and $1.1 million.
