Nature Strip Was A Sale Ring Reject

Exciting sprinter Nature Strip was a sale ring reject who could be racing for a share of $13 million in The Everest in October after recording another brilliant win at Flemington on Saturday.

Nature Strip was passed in for $90,000 on a reserve of $120,000 when offered at the 2016 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

The three-year-old son of Nicconi from the Desert Sun mare Strikeline has now won six of his nine starts plus two placings for prize-money of $499,800.

The rising 4YO became the 16th individual stakes winner by Nicconi when he won Saturday’s Listed AR Creswick Stakes at Flemington for his first success over 1200m.

His dam Strikeline was a G3 winner and is a half-sister to fellow G3 winner Bashful Girl (Perugino).

Strikeline’s other foals include the Listed Fernhill Handicap winner The Barrister (Star Witness), who now races in Hong Kong as High Volatility.

Strikeline has an unnamed two-year-old sister to Nature Strip and a yearling colt by Shamus Award and was covered last spring by Savabeel.

Trainer Darren Weir believes Nature Strip Horseform is worthy of a start in the $13 million Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13.

Five slot-holders for The Everest remain without a runner and Weir is hoping they are now considering the gelding as a viable option for the race. “Everyone is pretty keen to get him into The Everest, so hopefully there are some slot-holders there who may be interested in taking him on, but if that doesn’t happen we’ll map out a plan for the spring,” he said.

It was a good day for Widden Stud sires at Flemington with promising 2YO colt Good ‘N’ Fast, a son of Sebring, winning the Listed Taj Rossie Series Final.

Good ‘N’ Fast (Sebring x For The Good Times by Hennessy) has won two of his three starts, all at Flemington, for prize-money of $173,200.

He is raced by his breeders and is one of five winners out of the Listed winner For The Good Times, also the dam of Fast ‘N’ Rocking (Fastnet Rock), who won six races including two at G3 level and was placed in four G1 races.

The family features VRC Oaks winner Just Now (Semipalatinsk), a daughter of Good ‘N’ Fast’s third dam Tautina (Lumley Road).

Good ‘N’ Fast is the 45th individual stakes winner by Sebring.

A.R. Creswick Series Final 3 , 1200m
Race Synopsis: Progressive three-year-old sprinter Nature Strip took out his first stakes success, his sixth win in nine starts, and his first beyond 1100m in winning in good style here. He again showed his pace to lead, racing closer to the grandstand side, but travelling a bit keenly. He established a clear advantage nearing the 300m and was untroubled from that point to score impressively. Order Of Command raced back in seventh place, in the centre of the track, went to third at the 200m and then kept fighting on well for a good second. John McArdle-trained filly Egyptian Bullet raced eighth place, between runners, went through to fourth at the 200m and then battled on well for a good third.
