Notable Winners For Leading Sires

Fastnet Rock’s in-form sprinter Deploy broke his second track record in succession and made it three stakes wins from his past four starts with a brilliant all-the-way victory in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes at Rosehill last Saturday.

The Gerald Ryan-trained Deploy Horseform backed up his record-breaking win the G3 Show County Quality at Randwick on August 19 with another scintillating win that saw him run the 1300m in 1:14.92 with his last 600m in 33.57 seconds.

Bred and part-owned by Torryburn Stud, Deploy (Fastnet Rock x Crimson Reign by Red Ransom) has won eight races and placed in six of his 16 career starts for prize money of $597,985.

He is one of three winners from six named foals out of the G3 winner Crimson Reign (Red Ransom).

His second dam Crimson Road was a US stakes winner by Australian champion Strawberry Road from the family of US G1 winners One Of A Klein (Danzig), Summer Colony (Summer Squall) and Gemologist (Tiznow).

CLASSY three-year-old Gold Standard’s victory in the G2 Stan Fox Stakes at Rosehill provided his sire Sebring with his 32nd stakes winner.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt, sold for $160,000 at the 2016 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, beat the Godolphin-raced Sanctioned (Teofilo) with Addictive Nature (Savabeel) third.

Gold Standard Horseform (Sebring x Coniston Gem by Greig) took his record for four starts for two wins and two seconds, which includes a placing in the G3 Up And Coming Stakes.

He was a $160,000 yearling purchase by Mount Hallowell Stud and Gai Waterhouse Racing and has now won $185,000 prize money.

His dam Coniston Gem was a dual G3 winner Coniston Gem and is the dam of two other winners.

Coniston Gem has a yearling filly by Zoffany and is due to foal to Sepoy this month.

PROMISING three-year-old Masculino continued the excellent start his sire Smart Missile has made to the new season when he won at Moonee Valley last Saturday.

Smart Missile already has 15 winners and more than $600,000 prizemoney to give him an early lead among Australia's stallions with three crops of racing age, not surprising as he was Champion First Season Sire in 2015/16 and the Leading Second Season Sire by winners in 2016/17.

Trainer Mick Price is looking ahead with some confidence to the Bill Stutt Stakes and the Caulfield Guineas after Masculino's all-the-way win over 1509 metres at Moonee Valley at his first start in city company after his 2YO debut win last April and an easy victory at Cranbourne on 27 August.

Masculino Horseform was offered by Glastonbury Stud at the 2016 Magic Millions Sale where Mick Price and Luke Wilkinson bought him for $120,000.

He is the second winner from Special Melody (Encosta de Lago), an unraced daughter of three-time G1 winner Special Harmony and a sister to multiple stakeswinner Little Surfer Girl. Special Melody is due to foal to Not A Single Doubt this spring.

Theo Marks Stakes 3U , 1300m
Race Synopsis: Highly consistent sprinter Deploy scored an impressive win in this Group Two race, taking his record to eight wins (including six placings) from 16 starts. He was quickly away, went to the front and then ran along at a brisk pace. He turned for home with a clear break and was not threatened at any stage in the straight to score brilliantly, and in fast time. Egg Tart, a dual Oaks winning filly last season, resumed and suffered her first defeat in seven starts but staged a very smart first-up effort over a distance short of her best. She was back in second last place in the seven-horse field nearing the home turn, put in a good run from the 300m and ran on nicely to take second (without looking likely to trouble the winner) for a very good second and will obviously appreciate longer. Euro Angel raced in last place until halfway down the straight before coming with a really good late run to take third in a smart effort at her second run this preparation.
