Redzel Wins Hall Mark Stakes

Snitzel’s classy sprinter Redzel added to his consistent record with a decisive victory in the G3 Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The 4YO, an initial 45,000 buy from Marquee Stud at the 2013 Australian Weanling & Bloodstock Stock Sale, was subsequently sold for $120,000 at Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale to Triple Crown Syndications

He has now finished in the placings at nine of his past 11 starts for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.

He had been runner up in the G2 Challenge Stakes and G1 The Galaxy in his first two starts this preparation and wil now head to the Brisbane carnival.

“He’s really toughened up now, just taking him quietly and giving him plenty of time between runs really suits him,” Peter Snowden said.

“There’s no better thing for a horse’s confidence than winning and he’s doing that well now.”

Redzel Horseform (Snitzel x Millrich by Rubiton) has raced 16 times for six wins, four seconds and a third, with prize money of $737,400.

He is out of the G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner and G1 Golden Slipper Stakes third Millrich, who has produced nine foals to race for seven winners including G3-winning stallion Danerich (Danehill). Millrich died in 2012 and Redzel was her last foal.

Redzel’s second dam is the three-time winner Mill Rani (Millionaire), the dam of eight winners and the grandam of the G1-placed sire El Roca (Fastnet Rock).

R4 RANDWICK 15 April 2017
Hall Mark Stakes 3U , 1200m
Race Synopsis: Redzel went to the front as expected but he then settled well, going at quite a good tempo (first 600m 36.80). He was taken deeper at the home turn (looking for better going) and then fought back strongly to score a very good win. Counterattack raced in fifth place, on the rails, got through on the inner at the home turn to challenge at the 300m. He then kept fighting on gamely for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too good. Hellbent settled in second place, one off the rails, moved up on turning for home and then battled on nicely to hold the minor placing.
