Former Patinack Farm shuttler Lope De Vega (Shamardal) won the French Derby and is the sire of 30 individual stakes winner including six G1 winners.

His current stars include the G1 Goodwood and G1 Memsie Stakes winner Vega Magic and and G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Belardo.

Lope De Vega shuttled to Australia for four years from 2011 to 2014. He now stands at Ballylinch Stud in Ireland.

Santa Ana Lane Horseform, an $80,000 Melbourne yearling sale buy for Flemington Bloodstock from Rosemont Stud, has now won over $600,000.

He recorded a track record time of 1:22.28 for the 1400m.

Santa Ana Lane's victory also gave his rider Dean Yendall a third G1 success in the past 12 months after the veteran rider recorded his first aboard Yankee Rose in last spring’s Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick.

The 5YO Santa Ana Lane (Lope De Vega x Fast Fleet by Fastnet Rock) has won five of his 22 starts including the G3 Zeditave Stakes as a three-year-old.

He is the the only foal to race for the winning Fastnet Rock mare Fast Fleet, a three-quarter sister to the stakes-placed Strategy (Danehill) and a half-sister to G3 Waikato Guineas winner Blimey O’Reilly (O’Reilly) and Listed winner Flag Officer (Excites).

Santa Ana Lane’s third dam is Far Flying (Far North), a US Listed winner who is the dam of G3 winner Dalhart (Forty Niner) and Listed winner Rose Frances (Crafty Prospector).

Fast Fleet is the dam of a two-year-old filly by Exceed And Excel, a yearling filly by Toorak Toff and is due to foal to Night Of Thunder.

Champion sire Snitzel provided the quinela in the G3 Guineas Prelude at Caulfield on Sunday when NSW-trained Perast beat Summer Passage.

Perast (Snitzel x Thousand Veils by Zabeel), a $100,000 Melbourne yearling sale purchase in 2016 by Newcastle trainer Paul Perry from the Maluka Thoroughbreds draft beat New Zealand G1 winner Summer Passage (Snitzel x Subsequent) and the Godolphin colt Kemenatri (Lonhro).

Perast Horseform was third in G2 Run To The Rose at Rosehill on September 9 before contesting the G1 Golden Rose and will now tackle the G1 Caulfield Guineas on October 14.

Perast, who has won twice from eight starts with two thirds for $180,250 prize money, is from the Listed winner Thousand Veils and is a sibling to three other winners.

His second dam is the stakes-placed Forever Dancing (Success Express from a family that includes G3 placed Dame Margo Fonteyn (High Chaparral).

Thousand Veils failed to get in foal to High Chaparral in 2014 and Smart Missile in 2015 but is due to foal to the latter this year.

Snitzel, stand on a fee of $176,000 in 2017, has already sired 11 stakes winners this season and his progeny have earned $3,829,663, placing him $1,737,674 clear of of second-placed Fastnet Rock.

The Written Tycoon filly Booker, trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, won the G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield.

Booker Horseform defeated the previously unbeaten Shoals (Fastnet Rock) by a long neck with G1 winner Catchy (Fastnet Rock) third.

Booker had been runner-up in the G3 HDF McNeil Stakes and third to Catchy in the G2 Danehill Stakes this campaign but could miss the G1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 14 in favour of shorter races.

Booker (Written Tycoon x Noondie by Flying Spur) was a $230,000 Melbourne yearling sale purchase by Barrie Griffiths from the Mill Park Stud draft.

She has now won twice and been placed three times at Group level from five starts with prize money of $279,000.

Booker is the first foal out of winning Flying Spur mare Noondie, a half-sister to Listed winner Tranquility (Redoute’s Choice) and the stakes-placed mare Impassioned (Redoute’s Choice).

Booker’s second dam Creatrix (Umatilla) is a three-quarter sister to dual G1 winner Umrum (Umatilla).

The family includes G3 winner Tan Ta De Lago (Encosta De Lago) and Hong Kong champion miler Sun Jewellery (Snitzel).

Noondie has a two-year-old colt by Helmet, a yearling colt by Written Tycoon and has a foal by Starspangledbanner.

Booker is the 21st individual stakes winner by Written Tycoon, the son Iglesia who is the sire of four G1 winners including Golden Slipper Stakes winner Capitalist, Music Magnate and Tycoon Tara.

Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes , 1400m
Race Synopsis: After racing well at stakes level for some time, the Anthony Freedman-trained Santa Ana Lane broke through for a Group One victory here, his fifth win from 22 starts to date. He settled well back in ninth place, behind a strong tempo (first 800m in 46.32). He tracked up nearing the home turn, took a narrow split at 200m and then came with a strong late run under his light weight (52kg) to score decisively. Mr Sneaky had a nice trip back in fourth place, on the rails. He moved up well at the home turn, took the lead on passing the 200m, only to be overhauled in the closing stages to take second after running a bold race. So Si Bon settled back in eighth place, got along the rails at the home turn, went to third at the 200m and kept fighting on nicely to hold that position to the post. Sovereign Nation was well back in 11th place, got between runners on straightening and ran on nicely for (2.1 lengths) fourth. The well supported Theanswermyfriend worked to find the lead (after having a battle with Attention) and only weakened from the 200m to finish (2.4 lengths) fifth after a taxing trip, while Tosen Stardom caught the eye running on late from the tail of the field for (2.6 lengths) sixth. The favourite Scales Of Justice raced back in fifth place and kept battling on quite well under his 56 kilograms for (2.7 lengths) seventh after seeming to have had every chance.
