Seven Up For Snitzel In 33 Days

Champion sire Snitzel has raced to seven stakes winners in the first 33 days of the new season after his brilliant son Redzel sped to victory in the G3 Concorde Stakes at Randwick on September 2.

Redzel Horseform was a $120,000 purchase for Chris and Michael Ward's Triple Crown Syndications from the Marquee Stud draft at the 2014 Magic Millions sale.

Bred by Lee Fleming, he is the last foal of the Rubiton mare Millrich, winner of the G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes and dam of Group winner Danerich.

Six of Redzel's eight wins have been in black type company, including last season's G1`Doomben 10,000 at his start prior to last Saturday. His career prizemoney is close to $1.3 million.

Redzel's success came a day after Snitzel's 4YO daughter Lubiton proved too strong for her stablemate Imposing Lass in the $125,000 Listed Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong.

Lubiton Horseform was bred by Bell View Park Stud and Foote Street Investments from the Zabeel mare Rosa Stellata. She was offered by Newgate Farm at the 2015 Easter Sale where she was bought for $250,000 by Sam Kavanagh.

Now the winner of four races and almost $230,000, she is trained by Bjorn Baker for Steve and Louise Gillard, who also raced Snitzel's G3-winning daughter Oakleigh Girl.

Lubiton is Snitzel's 68th lifetime stakeswinner and joined Redzel, Menari, Dracarys, Jukebox, Arbeitsam and Sweet Redemption as his black type winners in the 2017/18 season.

After a month of the season Snitzel once again heads the General Sires' table by winners, wins, stakeswinners and earnings of just over $1.5 million.

Snitzel’s fellow Arrowfield Stud sire Not A Single Doubt was represented by his 44th stakes winner when the Lindsay Park-trained Hell Or Highwater ran out an impressive winner of the Listed Heatherlie Stakes at Caulfield.

The five-year-old Hell Or Highwater (Not A Single Doubt x Get Ready Bertie by More Than Ready) is highly regarded by her co-trainer David Hayes.

"It was so important for her to win a black type race," Hayes said. "A fantastic group of guys own her and she's a very valuable broodmare now.

“She's raced well all winter and she's now got to keep racing well through the spring as there's some nice races that will suit."

Concorde Stakes 3U , 1000m
Race Synopsis: Redzel resumed after his Doomben 10,000 (Gr 1, 1200m) victory in May to record a brilliant first-up win and in fast time (56.23). He showed all his customary speed to take the early lead, got a break on turning for home and then went to the post to score impressively, dashing home his last 600m in a very quick 32.91. Spieth, also resuming, settled in last place in the small four-horse field, improved nicely from the 300m, went to second at the 200m and the battled strongly for a very good second, looking set for a good preparation. Nieta was third to the home turn, went through on the inner to second on straightening and then kept fighting on nicely for a good third in a sound first-up run. The Monstar was smartly away, raced outside the leader (Redzel) but was under pressure nearing the home turn before finishing last, but beaten just over three lengths, also going soundly considering the fast time.
