A Darley homebred by former shuttle sire Poet’s Voice, Viridine made it back-to-back stakes wins after starting his career with two victories during the winter in Sydney.

He has earned $415,000 prize money and is set to go to Melbourne for the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes against his own age at Flemington on November 4.

“Sheikh Mohammed has a very good stallion prospect. He is a pretty exciting animal,” said trainer James Cummings.

Viridine’s sire Poet’s Voice (Dubawi), who shuttled to Australia from 2012 to 2016, has sired seven stakes winners in the Northern Hemisphere and two in Australia.

Viridine Horseform is one of two winners for his dam Patina (Anabaa), a winner of three races and a half-sister to the Listed winner Jerezana (Lonhro).

Jerezana is the dam of the Group sprinter Badajoz (Commands) while Viridine’s third dam is the stakes-placed Portview (Handy Proverb), dam of dual Listed winner Barawin (Barathea) and the stakes-placed Saddler’s Silk (Barathea).

Patina was sold in foal to Epaulette by Godolphin at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $16,000 and produced a filly that year.

Godolphin has a two-year-old half-brother to Viridine by Denman.

Roman Consul Stakes 3 , 1200m
Race Synopsis: Godolphin-raced colt Viridine remains unbeaten after four starts after overcoming difficulties to take out this Group Two race. He soon improved from his good barrier (2) to settle in third place behind the leader but he then raced quite keenly on a number of occasions due to the slowing early tempo (first 600m in 36.27). Brenton Avdulla got him along the rails at the 300m, after being blocked on straightening, briefly took a moment to wind up in the sprint home but got to the front nearing the 100m and then went on to score comfortably. Single Bullet raced outside the leader (Shudabeen) at a steady pace, took the lead at the 300m and fighting on well for second. Beau Geste raced fourth place, moved up (wide) from the 600m, moved up at the 300m and then kept battling on quite well for third. Albumin raced in last place in the sevenhorse field and again caught the eye, running on late for (2.4 lengths) fourth.
