The former NZ bred and based Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park) sired his first Group 1 winner on Saturday Kiwi sprinter The Bostonian won the $700,000 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) in Brisbane.

Jimmy Choux was relocated to Rosalee Stud in WA from Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand and with The Bostonian one of his two stakes winners.

The Bostonian Horseform (Jimmy Choux x Keepa Cheval by Keeper) is raced by his breeder David Archer.

His dam Keepa Cheval is a half-sister to his former two-time New Zealand Horse of the Year Mufhasa (Pentire), the winner of 10 G1 races.

Keepa Cheval is the dam of three winners but is yet to produce a runner since foaling The Bostonian in 2014.

She has an Iffraaj weanling colt and is in foal to Alamanzor.

Trained at Cambridge by Tony Pike, The Bostonian is unbeaten in five Queensland races after winning all four starts at last year’s carnival including the G3 Sunshine Coast Guineas and Listed Daybreak Lover Plate.

The Bostonian has now won eight of his 15 starts, amassing $831,130 in prize-money.

Race Synopsis: The Tony Pike-trained gelding The Bostonian, whose previous trip to Australia yielded victory in the 2018 Sunshine Coast Guineas (Gr 3, 1600m), returned from New Zealand to record his first Group 1 victory here. He had a nice trip from his good barrier (3), racing in sixth place between runners behind a quick pace. He got a split halfway down the straight, went to the rails in the closing stages and then fought best to score a narrow but very good win. It was also a good ride by Michael Cahill. Osborne Bulls settled back in last place in the 13-horse field, went deep rounding the home turn and kept running on well, failing narrowly by a long-head for second. Dollar For Dollar raced outside the leader (Manuel) at a quick tempo, got to the front at the 200m and then fought on gamely for a close-up third after running a bold race. The favourite Nature Strip was a bit slow to move, soon improved but was caught three deep (without cover) outside of the leading pair, going at a solid pace and he then kept fighting on in the straight for (1.1 lengths) fourth after a difficult trip. Outback Barbie was ninth coming to the home turn and made ground in restricted room for (1.6 lengths) fifth. Tactical Advantage also made ground from back in eighth place for sixth (1.7 lengths), while White Moss looked unlucky after being handily placed as she was checked when looking for a run in the straight before finishing (3.2 lengths) ninth.
