IMPRESSIVE Fastnet Rock colt Cao Cao will head to the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast in January after a powerful win in the juvenile event at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Mick Price-trained colt had debuted with a luckless second in the G3 Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington on November 5 and showed the benefit of that experience to overwhelm his rivals over the 1000m course at Moonee Valley.

“He’s a tough colt and he’s just got to be kept up for the Magic Millions now,” Price said.

“His prizemoney should be enough to get a run. The trick will be to nurse him in.

“Hopefully we don’t have to run him again.”

Cao Cao Horseform carries the colours of Sun Bloodstock who purchased him for $350,000 out of the Baramul Stud consignment at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, he is the third foal of the four-time winning Encosta de Lago mare Serenada, a half-sister to G2 winner First Command and the Hong Kong G2 winner One World. The family features G1 winner River Dove and G2 winner Headwater.

SEBRING filly Serena Bay kept her unbeaten record intact at Rosehill on Saturday for the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable.

Serena Bay Horseform (Sebring x Caigura by Dubai Destination) carried on from her impressive debut win at Kembla Grange and is well on her way to recouping the $200,000 she cost Waterhouse when purchased from the Edinburgh Park draft at the 2016 Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney.

Her next start will be the $500,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick on December 17.

Extreme Choice won the Nursery last year on his way to winning the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes while Mossfun won the race in 2013 before winning the G1 Golden Slipper that season.

Serena Bay is the second-born of four foals produced by Caiguna. Her only other progeny to race is a Sepoy gelding named Seguna who has been placed from two career starts.

Caiguna has two other Sebring filly foals on the ground that are full sisters to Serena Bay with the eldest to be offered for sale in 2017 by Edinburgh Park.

• Sebring had a second 2YO winner on Saturday in Perth when Keeper Keen Horseform won the $100,000 Crystal Slipper at Ascot, also keeping intact his perfect record from two race starts.

Keeper Keen is out of the Perth winner Keeper Quiet, a Scandal Keeper mare who was placed in the G2 Karrakatta Plate and G3 WA Sires Produce Stakes as a 2YO.

CLASSY Showcasing 4YO Cylinder Beach started a big summer campaign on a high with a dominant first up victory in the Listed Recognition Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Trainer Desleigh Forster said the winner of last season’s G3 Gunsynd Classic will avoid a clash in coming weeks with stablemate Too Good To Refuse, winner of last week’s Listed Keith Noud Quality at Doomben.

“I will keep Too Good To Refuse and Cylinder Beach apart until the winter. Cylinder Beach will head to the Villiers in Sydney next month,” Forster said.

The NZ-bred Cylinder Beach Horseform (Showcasing x Queen’s Colours by Rainbow Quest) has won three of his 11 starts with four placings and prize money of $250,150 after he was passed in at the NZB Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs at Karaka in 2014.

He is one of three winners from six to race out of Queen’s Colours a three-quarter sister to Valley Quest (Rainbow Quest) and half-sister to the Sydney Cup winner The Offer (Montjeu).

European-bred Queen’s Colours is also a half-sister to the Listed winners Cymbal (Singspiel) and Musha Merr (Sadler’s Wells).

Think Big Stud sold Queen’s Counsel to agent Paul Willetts for $18,000 at the 2010 Australian Easter Broodmare Sale in foal to the Danehill sire Oratorio.

• Showcasing had another 2YO winner in NZ when Princess Rihanna Horseform scored an impressive debut win at Otaki on Friday to take a prominent position on the order of entry for the Karaka Million at Ellerslie on January 29.

The Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott-trained filly earned $NZ12,500 prize-money, moving her to equal sixth place on the order of entry for New Zealand’s richest 2YO race.

Showcasing sired the 2015 Karaka Million winner Hardline and last year’s runner-up Showmeyamoneyhoney.

Wexford Stables purchased Princess Rihanna for $24,000 at the NZB Karaka Select Sale.

The Karaka Million order of entry is headed by Wellesley Stakes winner Gift Of Power (Power) with $34,375 ahead of the Listed winner Talaria (O’Reilly) with $31,250.

MAGIC Millions winner Bradbury’s Luck continues to make his mark as a sire in Queensland despite his transfer this year to Western Australia.

The son of Redoute’s Choice added a new stakes winner to his list at Eagle Farm on Saturday when his 5YO daughter Elegant Composure Horseform won the Listed Colin McAlpine Memorial Classic.

Bradbury’s Luck stood at Glenlogan Park in Queensland until this year when he was sold to Yarradale Stud in WA.

Elegant Composure (Bradbury’s Luck x Marsh Harrier by Woodman) is her sire’s eighth stakes winner and has won $183,000 from her nine starts.

She was passed in twice as a yearling by Glenlogan Park at the Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale in 2013 for $10,000 and again for $19,000 at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

Elegant Composure is out of Marsh Harrier, a European-placed mare who is a half-sister to stakes winners Common World (Spinning World), Speciale (War Chant) and stakes placed Santa Agata (Anabaa).

Another half-sister Star Band (Dixieland Band) is the dam of G1 Myer Classic winner I Am A Star (I Am Invincible) and another Sicile (Anabaa) is the dam of G2 Wakeful Stakes winner Tiamo Grace (Monaco Consul).

Marsh Harrier has a 2YO filly by Publishing and produced a colt by Profile In Style in August.

SHUTTLE sire Myboycharlie has increased his lead at the top of the French 2YO premiership.

The popular stallion has been represented by 15 winners of 19 races in France this year for earnings over €434,270. He tops the prizemoney table from Invincible Spirit on €402k and Galileo on €390k.

The nearest sire to him by 2YO winners is Sageburg (11 winners of 15 races).

It has been another great year for Myboycharlie with frequent stakes results and ensures there wil be high interest in his classy 3YO filly Camprock when she goes under the hammer at the Arqana Bloodstock Sale in Deauville on December 3.

Camprock Horseform won this year’s G3 Prix Penelope and was runner-up in the G1 Prix Saint-Alary.

Sky Racing Tatt's Recognition , 1400m
Race Synopsis: The promising Desleigh Forster-trained four-year-old Cylinder Beach scored a smart first up win. He settled back in 12th place, on the rails, was under riding at the 600m but kept responding, took a split at the 200m, hit the front at the 100m and then went on to win well, looking suited to further. Hopfgarten had a good trip in fifth place from barrier 11, moved up well on straightening, looked the winner at the 200m and then battled gamely under his top weight (60kg) for a very good second, conceding 6kg to the winner. Feltre settled in seventh place on the rails from his good barrier (2). He got along the inner to challenge at the 200m and then battled well to hold third. Rudy settled in ninth place, improved (deep) at the 600m and kept battling on well for a sound (2.1 lengths) fourth at his second run this preparation.
