Allergic Horseform (Race 1) has closed the gap on the favourites having been backed in to $4, close to a point shorter than his opening quote. He has been working his way to fitness with each run and backs up after a third here last week.

The United States Horseform (Race 4) is the defending champion in the Ranvet Stakes and there is a market push to say he can win it again third-up off a last-start fifth in the Australian Cup. He is now second pick in the market at $4.60 having shortened almost a point and a half since betting commenced.

Catchy Horseform (Race 7) is the only one in the Golden Slipper to have firmed in the last day or so with queries on most of the field in the wet going. The filly has done nothing wrong, remaining undefeated with her last-start win in the Blue Diamond and she has firmed a half point as second pick in the market at $5.50.

Russian Revolution Horseform (Race 8) opened as joint favourite in a wide betting market for the Galaxy but now stands alone at the head of the market at $4.40 after firming more than a point. The three-year-old showed great promise at his maiden campaign winning his first four races up to G2 level, his only defeat a fourth in a G1, and has won two trials ahead of his return.

Alegria Horseform (Race 9) is getting close to a win after a closing second over a mile in the wet last start and the punters believe today is her day, backing her in a point to $5.50. She should be peaking third up and ready for the step up in trip, aided by a return to her own sex.

Race Synopsis: The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Russian Revolution is now the winner of five of his six starts and he resumed to score his first win at Group One level with a very smart first up performance. He began well from his outside barrier (14) and was sixth early on (out deep) before improving to race in fourth spot (still wide). He challenged nearing the 200m and the finished a bit too well to win in good style despite a wide trip. His stablemate Redzel showed his usual early pace and travelled in third place, but three wide after starting from a wide barrier (11). He got to the front at the 200m and was only caught in the closing stages for second, putting up a really good effort. The $51 outsider Jungle Edge was smartly away from his good barrier (2), soon drove through to lead, held a clear advantage on straightening and then held on well for a close up third after running a bold race.
