BR8 Too Good To Refuse - the $34 looks Too Good To Refuse
MR3 Lucques - way down in class - and his regular jock might be able to coax him to put in a good one - $34 & $8.50

Quillate or Sebring Dream are big chances in the last at Sandown.

I also think Observational in Race 8 Sandown.

MR5 Well Sprung - I like the change in jockeys, and from the draw, he should posi forward. The distance is a query, but if the track plays fair, he can challenge strongly turning for home, and place and hopefully hold on to win - $35 & $7.50

MR7 H9 Rock Magic and H14 I expect to run well and at the odds are great place bets and my exotic divvy lifters.

I also like Violate R5,and Star Patriot R6 for great place divs. May have an all up.

Cheers,The Pig.

SR4 Vinnie Vega - down in weights and can easily place - $29 & $5.25 are sweet odds

OAKS DAY

MR1 Groovin' - back to Flemington and can improve on her last start, which was after a 4 week break

MR3 Pay Up Bro - the weight and distance drop, plus the inside alley, will help with class rise

MR5 Well Sprung - had a set back before an even last start effort - goes ok here - only 7 starters so EW is not as attractive as when I backed him at 40's yesterday

MR6 Thelburg - very unlucky last start - can storm home in this

MR7 Savaheat - distance drop from last start suits

Tashbeeh Mel R8. Has been a bit stiff last couple, Jumps from 1400 to 1800 here which will suit. B Shinn a big advantage.

Miss Gunpowder Mel R10. At 8.50 not really a ruffie, has raced up to win at last two and kept battling on which tells me she is looking for 1400.

Cheers, Loges...

Melbourne Cup day racing, always offers lots of good priced winners, that are nearly impossible to pick, either on form or because there are so many to choose from. I believe you almost need to psychoanalyze the trainer/owner, to deduce if the particular race has been the ultimate target, has the horse's current form been the factor, or does the owner just want a horse competing on the day. With this in mind, I offer these ruffies.

MR2 Hot Ruby - targeted - has had 4 starts at the track and run well each time and the distance is perfect

MR3 Royal Tudor - best rated horse in race dropping back in class

MR4 Fanatic - great effort last start and has run well over 3200m in group races

MR6 Yulong Xingsheng - rates well against the toppie

MR8 Second Bullet - has good form in better class and fresh back to what appears may be his ideal distance and track

MR9 Oberland - good effort last start and he has a good last 200, which suits this track

Not a hopeless day for me as I backed Eckstein at 11.90 the place which paid for my day out.
Radipole went to early and will be a very good horse in Autumn. Also picked up the tri in Ecksteins race so I have a little stake for Cup day. Good luck all.Cheers,The Pig.

Bondi Beach is my ruffie, and he has no recent form to support my selection. His last start was just OK, but being from a stable that only really targets the Melbourne Cup, his fitness at his last start would not have been anywhere near 100%. 7 weeks on, and with barrier 1, he will be much fitter, and can possie at or near the lead. He ran a great race in the MC in 2015, having drawn 18 barrier and racing wide and even coming wider, rounding the home turn.

Not sure if he will get out from his $61 & $16 early quote, but I have taken $101 boosted win odds.

Good luck all

MR5 9 Dracarts and 13 Andaz I think warrant place bets and inclusion in exotics. MR6 13 Eckstein will give a great sight with B. Avdulla to ride.0
MR7 8 Aberro could place at odds.
MR8 Radipole and MR9 Sweet Sherry also appear good place bets and should be at good odds.

Good luck all,and have a great week Toddy.

Cheers,The Pig.

AR1 #5 White Kaps can pinch a good break and beat them all at 16's.

AR6 #4 Galaxy Falls @16's might have had an injury last prep as had been racing well prior.
