Charm Spirit Makes It Eight

Boom shuttle sire Charm Spirit sired his eighth European first crop 2YO winner and first in Ireland on Saturday.

The Ger Lyons-trained Bailly won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (1000m) impressively, landing a significant gamble when she cleared away from her opposition at just her second start by 4 ½ lengths.

“That was impressive and I’ve always thought she was in my top batch of two year olds,” Lyons said.

“She’s a long way from being the finished article so we’ll let her build up slowly and she could be a cracking filly next year.”

A £105,000 yearling purchase, Bailly is the eighth individual first crop 2YO winner by Charm Spirit with the son of Invincible Spirit represented by winners in Great Britain, Ireland and France.

NZ-based Charm Spirit’s first southern hemisphere yearlings sold to $400,000 this year will commence racing in the 2018/19 season.
