Six Up For Sea The Stars

The Prix Ganay, the first Group 1 of the European Flat season, was won by the Andre Fabre-trained Cloth Of Stars, a son of Sea The Stars.

Normally run at Longchamp, the 10 and a half furlong contest was this year run at Saint Cloud with Cloth Of Stars Horseform making it three wins from three starts so far this season and the sixth G1 winer sired by Sea The Stars.

All three wins have been in Group company, having won the G3 Prix Exbury in March before taking the G2 Prix d’Harcourt at Chantilly last month.

On this occasion he forged into the lead over 200 metres out and held off all challengers to win by a short-neck, however he looked to have more in hand than the bare margin suggests.

A winner of the G3 Prix des Chenes at two and the G2 Prix Greffulhe and G3 Prix La Force last season, he was also third in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris last July.

Bred by Peter Anastasiou at Baroda Stud in County Kildare, he is a half-brother to two-time winner Warrior Of Light out of Strawberry Fledge, a full-sister to the G1 Epsom Oaks winner Light Shift, the dam of last week’s impressive Gordon Richards Stakes winner Ulysses.

Sea The Stars stands at Gilltown Stud for a fee of €125,000 this season where he was joined on the roster by his dual-Derby winning son of last year Harzandee.

GALILEO’s seven-time Group 1 heroine Minding illuminated the highest-rated Flat race ever run at Naas with a stunning 2017 debut in the G2 Mooresbridge Stakes.

She won five times at the highest level last year and more is in store judged on her ready dismissal of three rivals in her return on when she made all to score by three lengths as she pleased.

Her next start is set to be the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Minding Horseform is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Lillie Langtry, winner of both the Coronation and Matron Stakes in 2010.

Her first foal to race was the G3 winner Kissed By Angels.

A G1 filly of the future for the Aga Khan might have emerged on the Naas card as the Dark Angel filly Rehana really looked the part in the G3 Athasi Stakes.

She raced clear inside the final furlong to score by nearly three lengths to set up a bid for the Irish 1000 Guineas.

Bred by and raced by the Aga Khan, Rehana Horseform beat this Sunday’s favourite for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, Rhododendron in her maiden victory last June.

Her Holy Roman Emperor half-sister Rayisa (IRE) was twice Listed placed on the track.

Also at Naas, there was plenty to like about how Doctor Geoff Horseform (Fast Company) came from off the pace to collect the Listed Tetrarch Stakes for three-year-olds with an impressive late dash.
