Brendan and Jo Lindsay, the new owners of New Zealand’s Cambridge Stud, have appointed former Godolphin chief Henry Plumptre as their chief executive.

The Lindsays will assume control of Cambridge Stud in April next year.

Plumptre, who resigned as Godolphin managing director in Australia after being at the centre a strangles controversy, will oversee the stud and the Lindsay Racing team.


Brendan Lindsay commented: "Henry Plumptre has overseen some exceptional achievements during his career. He has built world-class brands and brings vast international experience to this new role.

“Jo and I are delighted that he has agreed to be a key component of the new Cambridge Stud team next year.

"His willingness to re-locate to New Zealand with his wife Michelle also speaks volumes about the reputation of our industry."

Plumptre said the appointment is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“The stud stands tall world-wide and to be part of its future is a real privilege."

Cambridge Stud principals Sir Patrick & Lady Hogan confirmed last week that they had sold their iconic stud to the Lindsays.

Plumptre boasts a distinguished global career spanning three continents and over 40 years’ experience in bloodstock, stud farms and racing operations.

The Lindsays have their private racing operation at Karaka under trainer Lance Noble’s guidance.
