Best From The West - March 18

The Simon Miller trained Seannie couldn't have been more impressive in her return last start and appears well placed to go back to back at Ascot on Saturday.

Due to contest the seventh event, the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes [1200m], Seannie is currently the highest rated 2YO in Perth, following her demolition job in the Supremacy Stakes [1000m].

After being slow away, jockey Aaron Mitchell didn't panic and proceeded to settle at the rear.

Pulled to the outside on straightening, Seannie displayed a very sharp turn of foot, sweeping up to the lead and drawing clear to score by 2.5L.

Open to good improvement off the back of that performance, she gives the impression she will relish the step up in trip and certainly looks to settle a decent standard.

As much as $2.10 is being offered about her chances, which may appear short enough, however it is very easy to price her odds-on.

Her stablemate Very Angry Gal Horseform presents the biggest danger, however given Seannie has the fitness edge, more than happy to side her way.

The Team Williams trained Royal Star Horseform failed to justify favouritism in the Ascot 1000 Guineas, however her performance still held merit and she can improve sharply.

With 45 days between runs, she was entitled to be vulnerable and proceeded to run accordingly.

The fact Pike links back aboard is a good push for her chances and no question her first two wins were top draw.

Better than 2-1 is being offered about her chances, which is a worthy gamble as if back to her best she should prove very hard to beat.

She is a highly promising filly and is worth sticking with.
