Tivaci Horseform overcame a Heavy 8 track which appeared to be suited onpace horses in coming from the tail of the field to win well, his first at Group One level. Damien Oliver rode him quietly and he was in last place in the tenhorse field at 600m before tracking up (wide with cover) nearing the home turn. He then put in strong run, hit the front at the 50m and went on to win well.

Le Romain Horseform settled nicely outside the leader (Jungle Edge), moved up to challenge on straightening, took the lead at the 100m but could not hold off the late bid on the winner to finish second, putting up another good effort.

Jungle Edge Horseform went to the front as expected, set quite a good tempo (first 800m 49.09) and then fought back gamely when challenged to take a good third.

McCreery Horseform was back in second last place in the ten-horse field coming to the home turn and caught the eye in running on well for (1.8 lengths) fourth while Redkirk Warrior Horseform raced sixth place, one off the rails, and battled on very well for (2 lengths) fifth.

The favourite English Horseform was given a good trip by Blake Shinn, racing in fourth place (tracking Le Romain). She challenged at the 200m, briefly looking dangerous, but then battled from that point to finish (2.5 lengths) sixth after seeming to have every chance.
