City Next For Impressive Newcastle Winner

Hawkesbury trainer Garry White is tempted to strike while the iron’s hot with impressive Newcastle winner And So It Goes.

The four-year-old mare made it four wins from only seven starts in the Provincial Sprint over 900m on Tuesday.

“I might back her up at Warwick Farm next Wednesday in a Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1200m against her own sex,” White said. “She’s pretty good.”

And So It Goes Horseform showed a good turn of foot to easily beat Odds And Evens and the hot favourite All Stand.

White has done a superb job with the beautifully-bred daughter of Snitzel. And So It Goes, raced by White’s long-standing owner, Hobartville Stud’s Grahame Mapp, is her dam Peace Academy’s third foal.

Her younger three-year-old brother Military Academy Horseform also won for connections at Hawkesbury on April 5, shedding his maiden status.

A late maturer, And So It Goes was taken bush by her trainer to educate her.

She ran third at Gosford in July last year and then was given a good spell after finishing unplaced on her home track in August at the beginning of this current season.

White trialled her three times (she won two of them and finished second in the other) to prepare her for a new campaign, and put her on the float to Orange – where he recently won the Cup with Letter To Juliette – for her first three starts.

She won there on January 30 and February 17 before finishing third to recent Newcastle winner I Am Special in a Class 2 Handicap (1000m) on March 5.

And So It Goes bounced back to winning form on her home track on April 5 in a similar race, and was even more impressive at Newcastle.

“She has done a terrific job,” White said. “Every time I step her up, she has delivered.

“And So It Goes is really strong, and I’m sure she will have no trouble handling at least 1200m.”

Winning rider Corey Brown was equally impressed. “She was electric when I gave her a squeeze in the straight,” he said.

“She was really relaxed in her attitude; totally different to how she was when she won at Hawkesbury at her previous start.”

White is having his best season in five years. He has won 11 races since mid-December.

And So It Goes also was Hawkesbury’s 75th winner since January 1.
