Racing in northern NSW has lost one of its popular stalwarts with the passing of Noel Slade at the age of 79.

Racing in northern NSW has lost one of its popular stalwarts with the passing of Noel Slade at the age of 79.

Slade was secretary/manager of Glen Innes Jockey Club for 22 years.

He also co-owned several horses with other Glen Innes identities including the 2003 Gold Coast Guineas winner Tahitian Star.


He hosted local racing and sports radio programs for over 30 years and also gave years of service to lawn bowls, rugby league and the All Schools Sports Carnival.

He is survived by his wife Deirdre, daughter Simone, son Scott and their families.

A funeral service for Noel Slade will take place at 11am on Friday June 16 at Holy Trinity Church, Glen Innes.
