Even after the early scratching of McCreery Horseform, Chris Waller boasts a strong dual pronged attack in the event as he will also saddle up second favourite Comin’ Through who has drawn barrier 7.

2017 BILL RITCHIE HANDICAP: TIPS AND RACE PREVIEW

No defined pacesetter however Comin' Through and Burning Passion should be prominent.

TOM MELBOURNE Horseform has finished second in his past two starts and was unlucky not to win each of them. Was held up badly on resuming at Rosehill. Second up in the Tramway was caught wide with no cover before striking the front a long way from home. Will be fitter third run from a spell and suspect he only needs even luck in running to be taking this out on his way to an Epsom tilt.

COMIN' THROUGH Horseform hit the ground running with a first up win at this course and distance. Kept ticking over since with a Rosehill barrier trial and like Tom Melbourne, profiles as a lightweight Epsom hope.

SPECTROSCOPE Horseform was always going to find the 1200m of a Show County Quality too sharp. Wasn't beaten far behind Deploy however and form out of the race has since been franked through the winner. Reunited with Corey Brown here with the pair winning their lone outing in partnership when taking out the Doncaster Prelude.

BURNING PASSION Horseform next elect still perhaps with a residual fitness edge over a few here.

Race Synopsis: Comin’ Through came into Epsom Handicap (Gr 1, 1600m) calculations by staging a game effort in winning here. He began well and settled outside the leader (Burning Passion). He put pressure on that runner on turning for home, then after quite a battle, got the upper hand to win narrowly but quite impressively. Tom Melbourne raced in fourth place, one out and one back, going a bit keenly in stages. He challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on well for second, beaten a head. Blazing Passion showed good pace to lead and battled strongly when challenged in the straight for a close-up third. Pajaro was last in the seven-horse field and caught the eye in running on late for fourth, beaten only a half length in a good first up effort.
