2017 BRC SPRINT: TIPS AND RACE PREVIEW

Jungle Edge should settle closer today and will push forward with Strawberry Boy.

ULMANN Horseform scored a good win in listed company at Warrnambool last time out following very consistent form prior to that. Drawn well for this in barrier 2 and would not be surprised to see him get the job done again.

SPLURGE Horseform comes over from NZ with good form and is shooting for his fourth win in a row. Recent form measures up well in this field and he is worth keeping safe with HOPFGARTEN Horseform second up.

Race Synopsis: Victorian-trained sprinter Jungle Edge again showing his preference for affected tracks, where he has scored all of his 11 wins, with a smart all-the-way win here. He was quickly away from barrier nine, went to the front, grabbed a clear break on straightening and was not threatened from that point to win well. High Midnight raced in third place, went to second on turning for home and fought on well to hold that position, without looking likely to trouble the winner. Ulmann raced in fifth place, on the rails, went to fourth on straightening and ran on well late for third, just missing second in a photo. The favourite, the New Zealander Splurge, was slow to move, settled near the tail of the field but failed to run up to his previous good form and raced well below his best at his Australian debut to finish (11 lengths) ninth.
