2018 MATRIARCH STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Miss Siska and Silent Roar look the early speed and there should be enough pressure for spots behind them to ensure a fair tempo.

SAVVY COUP needs some luck early on from that barrier. Chance for them to be positive here after racing very keen last time. She was no match in the Cox Plate but tumbles lengths in class for this and her Group One-winning form in New Zealand appeals.

AQUA D'IVINA goes the other way. She's up in class but she is winning and improving all the time and think that she measures up.

Had to like the way that TEMPLE OF BEL found the line in the Empire Rose last week and she looks as likely as any through that race. Respect Miss Siska backing up and getting the right run on speed.

Race Synopsis: Quality mare Kenedna, took out her fifth stakes victory in 21 starts in winning here. Having her fifth run this preparation and advancing to 2000m she settled in sixth place on the rails from her good barrier (2). John Allen pushed her through a gap at the 300m, she then took a while to wind up in the sprint home, hit the front nearing the 50m and went on to score a very good win. Miss Siska raced in fifth place, one off the rails, improved nicely rounding the home turn, challenged strongly at the 300m and kept fighting really well for a very good second. Luvaluva raced in eighth place, one off the rails, improved behind runners at the home turn, finally got clear nearing the 100m and then ran on nicely to take third. All Too Soon settled towards the tail of the field, tracked up (wide with cover) from the 800m, went widest of all on turning for home and then ran on well for a good fourth, beaten less than a length. Eckstein raced outside the leader (Silent Roar) and held on nicely for (1.1 lengths) fifth while Temple Of Bel was midfield, improved well (deep) coming to the home turn, looked dangerous when she moved up at the 300m before battling well for (1.2 lengths) sixth.
