2018 THE EVEREST – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Redzel and U S Navy Flag kick up from low draws. Incredible sprint field who between them boast 23 Group 1 victories. Wide open contest with it being a case of each way the field and the anticipated Heavy track adds another element of intrigue.

Leaning toward 2017 Everest runner up VEGA MAGIC. Booked his spot this year by dominating in the Bletchingly and last start was only narrowly beaten in the Memsie Stakes. Gets the Blinkers reapplied and suspect he is ready to show his best. A genuine heavy track the only query.

TRAPEZE ARTIST looks to be building nicely for this. Third up record is good and was dominant taking out the TJ Smith at this track and trip last autumn.

SANTA ANA LANE beat a number of these same rivals when winning the Premiere Stakes a fortnight ago. Underrated and has an excellent record on rain affected ground.

Defending Everest Champion REDZEL is as honest as they come and handles rain affected. U S NAVY FLAG gives the race an international flavour and has to be respected off his July Cup win at Newmarket.

The Tab Everest , 1200m
Race Synopsis: Winner of the inaugural The Everest, Redzel made it back-toback victories, staging another smart sprinting performance in winning here. He was smartly away from his inside barrier (1), travelled well in front, got a break on turning for home and fought back well to score a good win. Trapeze Artist had a good trip in third place on the rails, briefly looked a threat when he moved up at the 200m and then kept battling on well for a good second. Osborne Bulls settled in last place in the 12-horse field, went extremely wide (looking for better ground) on turning for home and made ground (closer to the outside rail) to take third. Le Romain raced outside the leader and eventual winner (Redzel) to the home turn and battled on in the heavy conditions for fourth, just in advance of the three-year-old Graff who ran on well from eighth place at the home turn for (4.2 lengths) fifth.
