Race Synopsis: After winning the Sandown Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m) in November, Ringerdingding broke through for his first win in five starts in scoring a narrow but good win here. He settled quite well in sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1) but was blocked coming to the home turn. James McDonald eased him into clear running at the 200m, but he took a moment to wind-up before coming with a strong finish to grab victory nearing the post. Richard Freedman-trained Shuffle Up, a $61 outsider advancing in class here, raced in fifth place (between runners), challenged coming to the 200m and then fought on very well for (half-neck) second. The favourite Dealmaker raced in seventh place, with cover, improved (wide) approaching the home turn, took time to pick up in the sprinthome but then ran on quite well to take third, narrowly in front of Purple Sector who had raced outside the leader (Agassi) and held on well for fourth, beaten less than a length. Agassi (1.1 lengths) ran fifth after showing pace and then leading until halfway down the straight.
