Baker, who has enjoyed a lot of success targeting Brisbane races over the last 18 months, is sending Coolring and Brooklyn Storm to Brisbane with Winning Rupert with a lot at stake for his exciting three-year-old prospect.

Winning Rupert Horseform, unbeaten in two starts last season, has been set for Queensland Sumer Crown 3YO Series that carries a $500,000 bonus.

Saturday marks the start of the Summer Crown series. The series has three divisions catering for sprinters, two-year-oldsd and three-year-olds and covers selected races at Eagle Farm and Doomben on December 3, 17 and 31 as well as the Magic Millions race day at the Gold Coast on January 14.

Each division offers a $500,000 bonus for any horse capable of winning three races in their category.

Baker is confident Winning Rupert can get his bid for the bonus off to a flying start in Saturday’s QTIS Plate (1200m) after a thorough preparation that has seen the Written Tycoon colt win three barrier trials in the last five weeks.

Written Tycoon was spelled and missed the spring with the Queensland summer carnival and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) as his targets after winning the G2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben in May.

“We’re really happy with him, his work has been good and he looks great,” said Baker, who will send his three-horse team for Saturday to Brisbane on Wednesday night.

“He is probably one of the few Group-winning horses being set for the Magic Millions.

“There is a race for him every two weeks and we’ll give it a shot.”

Brisbane’s reigning premier jockey Jeff Lloyd rode Winning Rupert in his two wins last season and retains the bride on Saturday, having made a special trip to Sydney last week to ride the colt in a trial win at Rosehill.

Baker has also booked Lloyd to ride Coolring Horseform in Saturday’s G3 George Moore Stakes (1200m).

Coolring won the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup at the Gold Coast in May and Baker expects him to return to that form after his last start eighth in the Listed Keith Noud Quality (1200m) at Eagle Farm on November 19.

“His last start was out of character but he is a horse who likes a genuinely good track,” Baker said.

“He’s the sort of horse who can bounce back and he often does when you least expect it.”

Brooklyn Storm Horseform completes the Baker assault on Saturday in a Class 3 Plate (1200m).

Baker’s also nominated Lubiton Horseform for Saturday’s Listed Mode Plate (1200m) and Goodfella Horseform for the 2YO Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm but both horses are expected to remain in Sydney.

Baker has fond memories of Brisbane as he recorded his first G1 winner as a trainer in his own right when Music Magnate won the Domben Ten Thousand last May.

The former Kiwi trainer boasts a high strike rate in Queensland, having won eight races with nine placings from 34 starters at Doomben, Eagle Farm, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast since he established his stable in Sydney.
