Ryan, who runs a flourishing manufacturing business in tandem with his Deagon stable, will saddle consistent five-year-old gelding Land Office Horseform in Thursday’s $100,000 Rockhampton Newmarket.

Another Whiskey Horseform set to be his last runner at Caloundra on July 1.

“I’ve been doing the same thing for five years now – training and running the business,” Ryan told Queensland Racing.

“It’s just got a bit tiring. It’s not a new path, or a bigger leap, it’s just trying to put a bit more time into myself, my business and my family instead of the horses.”

Ryan, 49, has been involved in racing since he was 18. Since he began full time training 12 years ago has enjoyed success with such classy winners as Chinchilla Rose Horseform, Cariad Horseform and Deer Valley Horseform and consistent Brisbane gallopers Jasminka Horseform, Steel Lips Horseform and Susashi Horseform.

Chinchilla Rose was a multiple Group winner of the Surround Stakes in Sydney and QTC Cup and Dane Ripper Stakes in Brisbane.

Ryan’s long-time foreman Darryl Ward is expected to take charge of his Deagon stable in the new season.

Land Office Horseform heads to the Rockhampton Newmarket on the back of a last start win at Callaghan Park on June 9.

“The horse has done a treat and we expect him to run well,” he said.
