Former NSW racing and football executive Steve Eriksson has been appointed CEO of Tasracing.

Tasracing has operated under interim CEO Alicia Fuller since the resignation of former CEO Vaughn Lynch last year.

Eriksson is a highly experienced senior executive who has held high profile positions with AFL and NRL clubs with his skill set covering finance, governance and operations over some 13 years.


He spent five years in racing administration with Racing NSW as general manager- finance and IT and also was the inaugural Chief Financial Officer of the AFL club GWS Giants.

Prior to accepting the position with Tasracing Eriksson was the CFO of the Cronulla Sharks NRL club during a time of significant change and rebuilding.

Tasracing board chairman Gene Phair said he was looking forward to working with Eriksson.

“I am looking forward to working with Paul and of particular importance will be the overseeing of work that is to be completed on the redevelopment of the Elwick thoroughbred track,” Mr. Phair said.

Work has begun in on the $12.5 million redevelopment of the Elwick track that will produce an improved 28-metre wide track as well as significant changes to other areas of the racing complex.

Alicia Fuller will return to her position of Operations Manager Racing with TasRacing.

Eriksson begins his role with Tasracing on March 15.
