Newcastle: Race 6 @ 4:55pm

Special Missile can adopt a prominent role racing on the fresh side. LANCIATO defeated Prized Icon in the Carrington Stakes at Rosehill back in January. Trialled well since and Newnham has targeted this race for him a fair way out. MISTER SEA WOLF could be on a Doncaster path. Capable of a sharp sprint fresh and the Villiers form is hot. Drawn soft and he looks a big chance. DUCA VALENTINOIS and ARTLEE are both getting fitter. SELECTIONS: Lanciato for the win.

$3.70 is Lanciato’s current price.

Using Ladbrokes Odds boost however, $4.20 is available.

Warwick: Race 2 @ 2:35pm

SNUGGLE POT won a 70 here and has made the quinella twice since. Gets the weight drop off Open company and should be winning. PICK OF THE PUBS brings strong form from the non-tabs and the last-start win was strong. Looks a quinella hope along with STARWOOD out of similar races. WALK TO THE BAR is third-up off an okay run at the Sunshine Coast and should be ready to fire. SELECTIONS: A bit short but # 5 Snuggle Pot is hard to go past.

Ararat: Race 8 @ 5:00pm

BLACK MOSHEEN is knocking on the door and wasn’t far away in better grade the latest. Peaks today off a handy gate at Rawiller rides first time. UNDER OATH is also back in grade and is suited. Draws the rail and the claim is handy. LUCKY LESLIE will also find this easier and has claims racing handy. DE KURNELL gets a 4kg claim and that brings him into it. SELECTIONS: # 4 Black Mosheen appeals around the $3.00.

Sapphire Coast: Race 7 @ 5:20pm

Uncle Gerry, Let It Roll and Uno Best look the pacesetters. Let It Roll is also accepted with jockey on at Canberra on Sunday, monitor that but assume he goes there. DIRECTOR hasn't received the best of luck at both his Australian starts. Month off and his NZ form last campaign reads well for a race like this. Has the upside and with the claim its hard to find any excuses. UNO BEST and UNCLE GERRY are out of form but can sneak into the placings. SELECTIONS: Director gets his chance.

Albany: Race 4 @ 5:45pm

PUCK SHAPESHIFTER races handy and deserved the Narrogin win when heavily-backed. Draws the rail and still looks well-placed. TWISTED MOUNTAIN was good winning three back and is a chance if that’s recaptured. DOUBLE EDGED is also in the mix, as is MU MU LAND if she can recapture the last run. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #1 Puck Shapeshifter after Queen Tori’s scratching. Looks the best on a tough program.

R6 NEWCASTLE 9 March 2018
Newmarket Hcp , 1400m
Race Synopsis: Lanciato continues to race in good form for trainer Mark Newnham, now winning three of four starts this preparation, including the Carrington Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Rosehill on 27 January. Again ridden in cold fashion by Rachel King, he remained at the tail of the field until switched deep nearing the 200m. He the sprinted quickly, hit the front at the 50m and went on to score quite comfortably. Mister Sea Wolf had a good trip in fifth place, one off the rails. He improved nicely rounding the home turn, got to third at the 200m and kept fighting on to take second. Shiraz raced in eighth place, improved between runners at the home turn, sprinted smartly to briefly take the lead at the 200m and momentarily looked the winner before fighting on to hold the minor placing.
